A Memorable Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony
The ribbon-cutting ceremony at The Straits Geriatrics Centre was a significant milestone, symbolising the clinic's commitment to providing comprehensive care for Singapore’s aging population.
Dr. Tan Mei Ying Melanie, Consultant Geriatrician at The Straits Geriatrics Centre, led the ceremony. Her dedication to personalised, holistic care for seniors is central to the Centre’s mission. Joining Dr. Melanie were Dr. Jayant V Iyer and Dr. Jason Lee, both Senior Consultants and Medical Directors at The Straits Eye Centre. This event marked the official opening of the Centre, setting the tone for its commitment to providing transparent, patient-centred, and high-quality care for seniors in Singapore.

Meet Dr. Tan Mei Ying Melanie
Dr. Tan Mei Ying Melanie is a Consultant with extensive experience in geriatric medicine. She graduated from Monash University, Australia, in 2010 and completed her residency in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine at the National University Hospital (NUH) in Singapore.
Her professional highlights include:
Receiving her Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 2015 and joining the Fellows of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore in 2018.
Developing innovative programs like the HOME (Help Optimise & Mobilise Elders) unit at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, enhancing elderly mobility and independence.
Serving as the Vice President of the Society for Geriatric Medicine Singapore and contributing to national healthcare initiatives.
